Brenda has been a 2nd grade teacher at Kirby
Elementary School in Memphis for four years. She has twice been nominated for Memphis Teacher of the Year for her work on behalf of
education in the city. A 1984 graduate of La
Moyne Owen College in Memphis, Ms. Hargrove has been a tireless advocate for education
reform. Brenda received national acclaim in 2005 when two of her students,
Tomeka Gravis, and Trent McGruder were inducted into the Elementary
Student Hall of Fame in Petaluma, California. When not molding the minds and intellects of
impressionable 2nd graders, Ms. Hargrove enjoys tennis, reading, and
traveling with her husband Rex, and their two dogs Gomez and
Morticia. Brenda and fellow Second grade teacher Georgia Squires
have tenure which keeps them safe from termination.
Brenda and Georgia Squires have a delightful Christmas song performed by the Kirby Elementary 2nd grade class.
